Battles of the American Revolution

This event will feature five games from GMT’s renowned Revolutionary War series.

Format: Single elimination, continuous play.

Rounds:
Mulligan: Brandywine Creek, (“Knyphausen’s Feint” scenario), duration 2 ½ hours

Round 1: Brandywine Creek, (“Knyphausen’s Feint” scenario). Duration 2 ½ hours

Round 2: Guilford Courthouse, (“Campaign” scenario), duration 2 ½ hours

Round 3: Monmouth Courthouse, (“Holding Action” scenario), duration 1 ½ hours

Round 4 (if necessary): Saratoga, (“Campaign” scenario), duration 3 hours

Final: Savannah, (“Campaign” scenario…3-Player), duration 6 hours

The GM and his assistants will adjudicate games that run long. Winners of adjudicated games will be determined by a comparison of Victory Points at the moment play is suspended. The player with the higher Army Morale total will be awarded 1 additional VP. In case of a tie, the GMs will assess the tactical situation and vote with majority rule.

Sides: Sides will be chosen by bid or by mutual agreement. Bids will be for Army Morale Points. Players will bid the number of AMPs they will surrender from their at-start Army Morale level for the side they prefer. Bids of zero are allowed. In the event of a tie, bid again. If tied after 3 bids, high die roll has choice of sides.

Seeding: Seeding in the 1st round will be based on AREA rating, followed by random assortment for those players without an AREA rating. Tournament points will seed subsequent rounds as follows:

Decisive Victory Winner +4, Loser –2
Substantial Victory Winner +3, Loser –1
Marginal Victory Winner +2, Loser 0
Draw Winner +1, Loser +1

NOTE 1: If one player surrenders prior to completion of a game which leads to his opponent earning a Marginal Victory, the winner will earn an additional +1/2 tournament point and the player who surrendered will be penalized -1/2 tournament point.
NOTE 2: The “Draw” rule above is an exception to Guilford Courthouse Exclusive Rule 2.4 where a “draw” is considered a double defeat.

NOTE 3: Tiebreak sequence:
1st Cumulative Army Morale Point differential
2nd Cumulative Victory Point differential
3rd Die roll

Bye: If necessary, byes will be awarded first to defending champions in descending order beginning with the most recent champion present. After all champions have received a bye, the top seeded player in any given round will be awarded one. No player may receive more than one bye until all players have received at least one. The player receiving the bye will be awarded +2 tournament points.

Rules: All series rules will be in effect, including all Advanced Rules.

Savannah: Will be played as a 3-player game. 1st, 2nd & 3rd place will be determined by Victory Points.

Guilford: A draw will be treated as an American Marginal Victory.

Brandywine: Deployment sequence:
1. Both sides place units with designated starting hexes.
2. British set up remaining artillery.
3. Americans set up remaining artillery.
4. British set up the rest of their forces.
5. Americans set up the rest of their forces.

The American player will be allowed two additional units not included in the original scenario manifest: The Rhode Island artillery and the Continental artillery, each in their printed set up hexes.

Saratoga: The 2nd edition rules will be used. The GM will roll a common die roll for fog to be used by all players. Limited British Intelligence will also be used.

NOTE: Whenever possible, all games will be played with the newest set of replacement counters.

RevCon: This event is part of RevCon. All players will be awarded points toward their overall RevCon standing. The RevCon champion will receive the George Washington Award.
